Project 1:  Audio Dubbing & Sound Shaping

Task 1: Audio Dubbing

Audio breakdown
  • the audio breakdown is done in the group of 3
  • Me and Jia Xuan were in charged in breaking down detailed scenes and detailed time, while Nicole took part in breaking down the sound effects and ambience sound.
  • After breaking down details from the clips, we find audio resources and edit the clip individually.
  • I gathered all the audio resources in YouTube by converting the MP4 file into MP3.

Editing Process
  • The clip was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • The Pitch Shifter effect was applied to the male dialog to create a deeper voice with lower frequency.
  • The sound effect was adjusted multiple times to ensure it was lied in a correct timing and appear smoother.

Reflection
This project mainly focuses on sound, which is relatively new to me, and it has allowed me to discover aspects of the production process that are often overlooked. Through this experience, I realized how much detail goes into sound design and how significantly it influences the overall quality of a production.

In Task 1, I gained a clearer understanding of the importance of breaking down tasks effectively. This reinforced the idea that production is a collaborative effort rather than an individual one, and that clear role distribution helps the workflow run more smoothly. Each member’s contribution becomes crucial in ensuring the success of the final outcome.

The audio dubbing task was both enjoyable and educational. It highlighted how attention to detail plays a key role, as aligning voice recordings with sound effects at the correct timing is essential to create a seamless and natural result. Even minor misalignments can affect the overall viewing experience.

Working with Adobe Audition was a completely new experience for me. I was particularly surprised by how sound can be manipulated and shaped in so many different ways using the techniques provided. This process broadened my understanding of sound as a creative element rather than just a technical component, and it has given me a deeper appreciation for the role of audio in production.
