Reflection:
This assignment marked an important step in my learning journey, especially in understanding the process of animation and the technical considerations behind it. After attending the lectures, I began transforming my static composition into an animation by following a structured, step-by-step approach. Throughout this process, I discovered the crucial role of pre-compositing in Photoshop—organizing and preparing layers ahead of time made the animation workflow in Adobe After Effects much smoother and more manageable.
One of the most valuable technical insights I gained was learning how to adjust the anchor point (midpoint) of an object. This allowed for precise control when rotating elements, enabling me to achieve more intentional and dynamic movements within a specific range and direction. It was rewarding to see how such a small adjustment could significantly impact the quality and believability of the animation.
In Week 11, as I continued building on my animation, I became increasingly comfortable navigating After Effects. I also grew more efficient in organizing compositions and solving minor technical issues independently. This not only improved my confidence but also accelerated my workflow. For example, understanding how to use the anchor point properly helped me achieve the desired rotational effects more accurately and intuitively.
Overall, this part of the assignment led to a noticeable improvement in my animation skills. It helped me connect the importance of planning with the execution of creative ideas and pushed me to think more critically about how each technical decision influences the final outcome. It was a meaningful learning experience that I believe will benefit my future design and motion projects.
